Custom Wood Beam Textures
Choose from four distinctive textures to give your custom wood box beams the perfect character. Our hand-scraped texture adds subtle movement and an Old-World appearance without the pronounced surface variation of our more rustic options. For a bolder, timeworn look, select hand-hewn texture or vertical saw-blade marks. A smooth-sanded finish provides clean lines and a more refined appearance for contemporary and transitional interiors. Each texture can be paired with your preferred wood species and custom stain color.
Custom Finishes for Every Design
Our wood box beams are available unfinished for customers who prefer to apply their own finish, or professionally finished to achieve the desired color and appearance. Choose a clear varnish to protect the wood while highlighting its natural grain, or select Rubio Monocoat oil finish for a more natural, low-sheen look. Rubio Monocoat is available in Natural and a wide selection of other colors. We also offer custom stain matching to coordinate your decorative wood beams with flooring, cabinetry, furniture, or other woodwork in the space.

Our custom wood box beams are available in walnut, hickory, white oak, and white pine, giving you a range of colors, grain patterns, and design possibilities. Each species is offered in both clear and rustic grades. Clear-grade wood provides a cleaner, more consistent appearance with fewer knots and natural markings, while rustic-grade wood highlights knots, grain variation, and other distinctive characteristics for a more relaxed, timeworn look. Every beam can be paired with your preferred texture and finish to complement your space.
Custom Sizes and Lengths
Every wood box beam is made to order, allowing us to tailor its dimensions to your project. While 4" × 4" and 6" × 6" are our most popular sizes, other widths and heights are available to suit the scale of your room and ceiling. In most cases, we can produce a continuous beam up to 14 feet long without a joint. For longer spans, we join beam sections using a traditional scarf joint, creating an intentional architectural detail while maintaining the appearance of a continuous timber beam.

Are these beams solid wood?
They are made from genuine wood but built as hollow, typically three-sided boxes. This produces the look of solid timber with much less weight.
How long can one beam be?
In most cases, beams can be made up to about 14 feet before a joint is needed. Longer runs can use a traditional scarf joint.
Can you match my floor or cabinetry?
We offer custom stain matching and recommend approving a sample before production because natural wood and surrounding materials vary.
How are box beams installed?
Installation commonly uses ceiling blocking or internal mounting cleats. The right method depends on beam size and jobsite conditions.
